RIF BIKES LIMITED WARRANTY & MAINTENANCE POLICY
IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE RIDING
This Limited Warranty applies to RIF electric bicycles purchased from RIF Bikes or an authorized RIF Bikes retailer. Warranty coverage applies only to defects in materials or workmanship under normal and intended use and is subject to the limitations, maintenance requirements, and exclusions stated below.
1. WARRANTY PERIODS
Warranty coverage begins on the original retail purchase date.
Main Electrical & Drive Components
12 months or 600 miles, whichever occurs first and 12months parts replacement.
Coverage includes defects in materials or workmanship affecting:
* Motor
* Battery
* Controller
* Display and primary electronic controls
* Basic drivetrain components specifically identified by RIF as warrantable components
Once the bicycle reaches 600 miles, the standard warranty on these components expires even if 12 months have not elapsed.
RIF Bikes may, at its sole discretion and on a case-by-case basis, provide goodwill assistance after expiration of the standard warranty. Such assistance does not extend or renew the original warranty.
Suspension Components
OFF-ROAD RIF BIKES:
Suspension forks, rear shocks, and related suspension components: 3 months
STREET / ON-ROAD RIF BIKES:
Suspension forks, rear shocks, and related suspension components: 6 months
Coverage applies to manufacturing defects and does not cover normal wear, seal wear, contamination, improper adjustment, impact damage, bottoming-out damage, or damage caused by aggressive riding.
2. WEAR ITEMS
Normal wear and tear is NOT covered by warranty.
Wear items include, but are not limited to:
* Chains
* Sprockets
* Cassettes
* Chainrings
* Brake pads
* Brake rotors when worn through normal use
* Tires and inner tubes
* Bearings subject to normal wear
* Grips
* Cables
* Brake fluid
* Lubricants
* Suspension seals and bushings
* Other components that naturally wear during operation
A broken, stretched, damaged, rusted, contaminated, improperly lubricated, or excessively worn chain is not considered a manufacturing defect unless RIF Bikes determines that the failure resulted from a defect in materials or workmanship.
Damage to another component resulting from a worn, improperly adjusted, damaged, or poorly maintained chain or drivetrain is not covered.
3. REQUIRED MAINTENANCE
An electric bicycle is a high-performance mechanical vehicle and requires regular inspection and maintenance.
The owner is responsible for keeping the bicycle in safe operating condition.
Before Every Ride
The rider should inspect:
* Wheels and axles
* Tires and tire pressure
* Brakes
* Steering and handlebars
* Suspension
* Chain and drivetrain
* Cranks and pedals
* Battery mounting
* Motor mounting
* Frame and suspension pivots
* Accessible fasteners and bolts
Any loose component must be corrected before riding.
DO NOT RIDE A BIKE WITH LOOSE, DAMAGED, CRACKED, BENT, OR IMPROPERLY ADJUSTED COMPONENTS.
Chain Maintenance
The chain and drivetrain should be visually inspected before or after each ride.
Cleaning and lubrication should be performed whenever conditions require it, particularly after riding in:
* Rain
* Mud
* Sand
* Dust
* Water
* Off-road conditions
At a minimum, the drivetrain should receive a thorough inspection, cleaning, adjustment, and lubrication approximately every 100 miles, and more frequently under severe riding conditions.
4. FASTENER & SAFETY INSPECTION
Electric bicycles can produce substantially greater forces and vibration than conventional bicycles.
The rider must regularly inspect accessible fasteners and mounting points.
Fasteners must be maintained at the manufacturer’s specified torque.
Frequent inspection is particularly important after:
* Off-road riding
* Jumps
* Hard impacts
* Rough terrain
* Transportation of the bicycle
* Wheel removal
* Suspension adjustment
* Maintenance or repairs
The warranty does not cover damage caused by continued operation with loose, improperly tightened, damaged, or missing fasteners.
5. OFF-ROAD USE
Off-road riding places significantly greater loads on the bicycle and its components.
Normal consequences of aggressive off-road use, including impacts, scratches, dents, wear, drivetrain wear, suspension wear, wheel damage, tire damage, and damage resulting from crashes or improper landings, are not manufacturing defects.
Warranty coverage does not include damage caused by:
* Crashes
* Collisions
* Jumps or improper landings
* Extreme impacts
* Competition or racing unless specifically approved for that model
* Overloading
* Riding beyond the intended capability of the bicycle
* Submersion or excessive water exposure
* Improper transportation or storage
6. MODIFICATIONS
Damage caused by unauthorized or incompatible modifications is not covered.
This includes damage resulting from modifications to:
* Motor programming
* Controller settings
* Electrical system
* Battery system
* Wiring
* Drivetrain
* Suspension geometry
* Frame
* Braking system
* Speed or power settings beyond specifications approved for the particular model
The mere use of a third-party part or independent repair service does not automatically void the entire warranty. However, damage caused by an incompatible part, improper installation, modification, or improper repair is not covered.
7. BATTERY WARRANTY
Battery coverage is 12 months or 600 miles, whichever occurs first, for qualifying defects in materials or workmanship.
Battery warranty does not cover deterioration or damage caused by:
* Normal capacity loss associated with use and aging
* Improper charging
* Incorrect charger use
* Improper storage
* Excessive heat or cold
* Physical damage
* Water intrusion
* Deep discharge caused by improper storage
* Modified battery wiring or connectors
* Opening or physically altering the battery
* Impact or crash damage
Battery capacity naturally decreases with age and charge cycles. Normal capacity degradation is not considered a manufacturing defect.
8. WARRANTY EXCLUSIONS
This Limited Warranty does not cover failure or damage caused by:
* Normal wear and tear
* Lack of reasonable maintenance
* Improper maintenance
* Neglect
* Abuse or misuse
* Accident or collision
* Improper assembly
* Improper adjustment
* Overloading
* Corrosion
* Water damage
* Improper storage
* Continued riding after a problem becomes apparent
* Unauthorized modifications that cause the claimed damage
* Incompatible aftermarket components that cause the claimed damage
* Commercial or rental use unless specifically approved by RIF Bikes
Failure to perform maintenance does not automatically cancel unrelated warranty coverage. However, RIF Bikes may deny a claim when inspection reasonably determines that the claimed failure or damage was caused or materially contributed to by inadequate maintenance, neglect, misuse, improper adjustment, modification, or another excluded condition.
9. WARRANTY CLAIM PROCEDURE
For warranty consideration, the customer must provide:
* Proof of purchase
* Bicycle model
* Serial number
* Current mileage
* Description of the problem
* Photographs or video when requested
* Reasonable maintenance information when relevant to determining the cause of the failure
RIF Bikes may require inspection of the bicycle or affected component before approving a warranty claim.
If a covered defect is confirmed, RIF Bikes will, at its option and subject to applicable law, repair or replace the defective covered component.
Replacement components may be new or functionally equivalent replacement components.
10. CUSTOMER RESPONSIBILITY
The owner is responsible for proper operation, inspection, maintenance, and safe use of the bicycle.
Maintenance is an essential part of ownership and is not warranty repair.
Continuing to ride after noticing abnormal noise, looseness, excessive vibration, braking problems, drivetrain problems, electrical problems, cracks, or other indications of damage may cause additional damage and may result in denial of coverage for damage caused by continued operation.
11. LIMITATION OF WARRANTY
This warranty covers qualifying defects in materials and workmanship only and does not constitute insurance against accidents, wear, abuse, improper maintenance, or damage.
This Limited Warranty gives you specific legal rights. You may also have other rights that vary from state to state.
Nothing in this warranty is intended to exclude, restrict, or modify any consumer right or remedy that cannot legally be excluded, restricted, or modified under applicable federal or state law.
